The fife

Le Joueur de Fifre
Edouard Manet ‒ 1866
Musée d’Orsay, Paris.

Cabernet sauvignon 2021
IGP Pays d’Oc

Gold Concours

Tasting : Intense and brilliant ruby colour, a rich and concentrated nose. Nose of ripe fruit and vegetal on the typical eucalyptus of the variety. Frank attack, structured mouth, round and warm. Aromatic of black fruits. Fife – Cabernet Sauvignon benefits a lot from being aerated before tasting.
Back label : Manet to his friend Fantin-Latour on the subject of the Pablo of Valladollid who will inspire him the fife:
«The most astonishing piece of painting that we have ever done ... The background disappears: it is the air which surrounds the man, dressed in black and alive».. Here you are at the crossroads, at the unprecedented encounter of three arts: wine, painting and music.
Victor Mercadier invites you to a 'Vinpressionniste' experience by associating the inspirations of the painter, the winemaker and the musician to serve you harmony of colors, flavors and notes through this full-bodied and silky Cabernet with accents of black fruits and eucalyptus. Let yourself be carried away by the melody with fruity notes of the fife...

Columbine

Columbine Holding a Polichinelle
Emile Gallé ‒ 1891
Musée d’Orsay, Paris

Merlot Petit Verdot 2022
IGP Côtes de Thau

Gold Frankfurt
International Trophy 2023

Tasting : a majority of Merlot which brings its delicacy balanced by 30% of Petit Verdot which brings a nice acidity to enhance the finish. Intense nose of raspberry, elderberry and liquorice notes. A fleshy mouth, delivering aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant. We still find garrigued notes. Long persistence.
Back label : «Our roots are deep in the woods, among the mosses, around the springs».
This was the motto that could be read at the entrance to Emile Gallé’s workshop. With the colombine playing with a puffer we make a jump in the Comedia Dell Arte. While we are discovering a wine resulting from the interplay of grape varieties, vinification and aging, it’s up to us to imagine the play that could well accompany it...
At the crossroads of three arts, Victor Mercadier invites you to a «Vinpressionniste experience» by associating the inspirations of the painter, the winegrower and the actor to serve you the harmony of colors, flavors and play. Imagine the puppet come alive over a drink and let yourself be carried away in a play of fruity flavors.

Musée Bonnat-Helleu, Bayonne.

Syrah Marselan 2022
IGP Côtes de Thau

Gold Concours
Général Agricole 2023

Gold Concours Vinalies
Occitanie 2023

Vinpressionniste bridge : Meissonnier's horse expresses power and elegance. We associate this expression to this fine blend of Syrah and Marselan with a present but melted tannic structure. The wine is full-bodied and fine at the same time.
Tasting : a fruity aroma, notes of balsamic, zan, violet, small berries (blueberry, wild strawberry), with a nice concentration without aggressiveness. There are also "garrigued" notes of local vegetation (thyme, laurel). Round, suave and full attack. Long and persistent.
Back label : Victor Mercadier invites you to appreciate the racy power, the ardor but also the elegance of this magnificent thoroughbred through this warm blend of Syrah and Marselan. It’s at the walk that you will discover its calm and deep color, then its nose will take you on an engaging trot to finish in the mouth with a fiery gallop. How can we best pay homage to an artist considered "as one of the most gifted servants of imperial glory" (Napoleon III) and "[...] one of the most knowledgeable men on horses that I have ever known" (Edgar Degas).
Victor Mercadier invites you to a «Vinpressionnist» experience by combining the inspirations of the painter and the winemaker to serve you the harmony of colors and flavors. Escape for a fantastic ride on the path of the senses ...

The Little Rats
de l’opéra

The Little Rats
de l’opéra

The Foyer de la Danse at the Opera
of the street le Peletier
Edgar Degas ‒ 1872
Musée d’Orsay, Paris.

Pinot Noir 2021
IGP Pays d’Oc

Vinpressionniste bridge : "The little rats of the opera" is a French expression of the ballet jargon which here describes young dancers in dance tights looking like little rats: the painting inspires finesse, the suppleness, the lightness of a fine 12 ° Pinot Noir, elegant and graceful like young dancers.
Tasting : A Pinot Noir from the Black Mountain in Minervois. In this oceanicinfluenced microclimate, the Pinot expresses itself with more freshness and finesse than the Pinots from the Languedoc plain. A compromise between the fruity Languedoc wines and the freshness / finesse of Burgundian Pinots Noirs. Aromas of small red fruits, morello cherry, with empyreumatic notes. The attack is fresh and the mouth silky.
Back label : What grace, what elegance, what finesse, what flexibility... From the dream and the fascination of ballets, to the pleasure and emotion of tasting, feelings blend. This fine Pinot Noir and the graceful evolutions of the little rats of the opera, merge with a touching naturalness.

The Starry Night

The Starry Night
Vincent Van Gogh ‒ 1888
Musée d’Orsay, Paris.

Chardonnay Roussanne 2022
IGP Côtes de Thau

Grand Gold Frankfurt
International Trophy 2023

Vinpressionniste bridge : The bridge is visual organoleptic with a color of the wine that we will find in the tone of the stars captured in this night of Van Gogh.
We can digress on the diversity of colors that wine can take on as it ages, in comparison with the diversity of the stars in the sky that Van Gogh talks about to his sister in the extract from the letter on the back label. A wine with a nightly atmosphere.
Tasting : an atypical wine with a blend that often challenges by its unusual character. The texture is fatter than the Viognier, we often perceive a first taste dominated by Chardonnay, on the brioche bread, toasted, notes of hazelnuts. Then the roussanne takes over with accents of honey, apricot and white flowers.
Back label : Van Gogh to his sister Wilhelmina, September 9 and 16, 1888: “Now I absolutely want to paint a starry sky. Often it seems to me that the night is even more richly colored than the day, colored with the most intense purples, blues and greens. When you pay attention to it you will see that some stars are lemony, others have pink, green, blue lights, forget-me-nots.[…]”. The wine in the glass like the stars in the sky is adorned with a thousand reflections then a thousand flavors in the mouth. Victor Mercadier invites you to a "Vinpressionist" experience by combining the inspirations of the painter and the winemaker to serve you the harmony of colors and flavors through this subtle blend of Chardonnay and Roussanne. Conquer the sky and put the stars in your glass.

La Source

La Source
Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres
1820-1856 ‒ Musée du Louvre, Paris.

Sauvignon 2021
IGP Pays d’Oc

Back label : “Never was flesh more supple, fresher, more permeated with life, more permeated with light, offered itself to view in its modest nudity. The ideal this time was a trompe-l’oeil” (Théophile Gautier about 'La source'). Tannins and acidity, which form the backbone of the wine, are enveloped by the softness of the flesh. Its material, its flesh, is harmonious and balanced in relation to its structure, its skeleton, and its power.

Back label : “I am working like never before, and on new attempts, open-air figures as I understand them, made like landscapes. It’s an old dream that still bothers me and that I want to achieve once and for all”. In the summer of 1886, Monet painted two large paintings of his daughter-in-law Suzanne Hoschedé, the prettiest of Alice Hoschedé’s four daughters, as a young girl with an umbrella turned to the left and to the right.

Let yourself be “Vinpressed” by its subtle color schemes and its aromas of spring flowers in a peach velvet.
Victor Mercadier invites you to a «Vinpressioniste» experience by associating the inspirations of the painter and the winemaker to serve you the harmony of colors and flavors through this pure Viognier.

Impression

Impression, rising sun
Claude Monet ‒ 1872
Musée Marmottan, Paris.

Marselan 2021
IGP Pays d’OC

Médaille d’Or Concours Général Agricole 2022

Tasting : A little-known grape variety which often calls out. The wine is fruity, not aggressive, with notes of crushed strawberries, hints of currants and a grapefruit finish. Still some iodized notes and a slightly saline finish.
Back label : “Say Impression” said Claude Monet to Edmond Renoir who added: “rising sun”. This is how the most famous impressionist work was named for the 1st exhibition of the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors et Engravers in 1874. Like the sun on the port of Le Havre in the early morning, raise your pink glass and light up the table of its pastel reflections. Let yourself be «Vinpressed» by its subtle color schemes and its aromas of redcurrant enhanced by iodine notes.

Victor Mercadier invites you to a «Vinpressionniste» experience by combining the inspirations of the painter and the winemaker to serve you the harmony of colors and flavors through this fruity rosé wine with reflections of the rising sun.
